RemChic Recommends: Must-Have Products September 2010

This month I am focusing on a handful of this fall's most amazing trends: gray, bra alternatives, and trousers/pants with edge. These are among my favorite trends and believe you me, I have been shopping my little heart out trying to find the best pieces to represent these style crazes. Gray is definitely the hottest color this season and is frequently paired with camel a la Michael Kors. However, because camel (in my opinion) only goes well with certain (and very few) skin tones, I have chosen to focus on gray as a singular entity. Grays this season are coming in a variety of hues from heather gray to charcoal to grayish blue. I personally have been buying gray in dolman sleeve silhouettes. I don't know if this is coincidence or part of the trend, but I just love dolman cut tops. Additionally, the September issue of Harper's Bazaar had a great article on the recent braless trend. Now, I know this isn't for everyone, but i my opinion, as long as nobody knows your braless, you're in the clear. I say secretly braless is better than faux paux exposed bra straps- ick! For those of you who are sick and tired of the traditional underwire bra, but aren't ready to go braless, RemChic has you covered! I've chosen some really cute and comfy bra alternatives, commonly referred to as "bralettes." A word of warning: if you need support, these probably aren't for you. And as far as hardcore trousers, well we owe that to the Olsen twins and their Fall 2010 RTW collection of The Row. Look out for motorcyle-inspired trousers, silk versions, and mixed media pants, such as baggy liquid fabrics with leather pockets. Of course, black is a must for this item. Alright, now that you've been briefed, let's get to it!

RemChic Recommends: Must-Have Products August 2010

August is already here, which means we all need to bring out our mix master skills, polish our credit cards, and do some back-to-school shopping! Because we are sensible couture lovers and are versatile and creative with all of our purchases, I've selected items that can be mixed and matched with other items you already own, generating a brand new (seeming) wardrobe without maxing out your precious AmEx. Additionally, I wanted to incorporate this fall's hottest hue- orange. Now, if you are like me and the first thing that springs into your mind when you combine "orange" with "fashion" is your  dreadful orange cable knit turtleneck from the early 90's, you're not alone. However, this also means August is a great time for you to keep an open mind and a sharp eye out for the 2010 interpretation of orange. Look out for ambers and coppers, as well as sharp cheddar cheese orange, like the ShopRuche and Madewell belts I've featured. Also, refer to my upcoming post on Costello Tagliapietra's fall 2010 RTW collection and how they incorporated orange into their ensembles!

Also, keep your eye out for classics with a twist. Take Burberry's black oversized tote in the bottom left corner or the J.Crew cardigan with an asymmetrical zip. These are examples of great pieces that will set you apart from the crowd, but in a sensible, classic way. Additionally, I try and switch up my scent every semester and this semester I am definitely going with Chloe! It's a very feminine, but strong scent. If you are on a tight budget crunch, opt for remixing the clothes you already own and investing in a few accessories or funky beauty buys, such as the Cupcake Lip Balms from Urban Outfitters. The balms are cheap and chic, not to mention having chapped lips is a huge faux paux, am I right? Anywho, happy back-to-school shopping everyone! And stay tuned because RemChic is going to have a giveaway coming up! If you want your voice to be heard, vote in this month's poll!

RemChic Recommends: Must-Have Products July 2010

Although July is still about a week away, I could not wait to publish this post because I have completely revamped RemChic Recommends! From now on I will showcase more products and have put some time into creating a collage of all of the items, as well as the nifty scroll box above with pictures of all the products. If you click on the photo of the product in the scroll box, it will take you directly to a site where you can purchase the item if you are so inclined! You should test it out! Seriously, it's a really cool widget, and (nerd alert!) I spent the greater part of two days figuring out how to make it, making this post extra squeal-worthy.

Anyways, right now I am starting to think about back-to-school shopping, which means trying to figure out what my wardrobe is going to include for the next academic year (or at least through next semester). I'd really like to focus on collecting quality staple pieces and since back-to-school season comes between summer and fall, I've featured a lot of earth-toned pieces and items that will work for both summer and fall. Of course, I don't want to confuse classic with boring, so I've included items like pink-on-acid Chanel lip shine (the color is actually Laser, but I prefer pink-on-acid) and pearlescent NARS nail polish in Adelita. It always amazes me how a little pizazz from the beauty department can make your whole outfit different!

My favorite item is the Elie Tahari Mira Pleated Leather Tote. You can totally see the architectural inspiration, and I just think the overall design is really innovative and pleasing to the eye. Of course, I somehow chose the most expensive item as my favorite, but I think this bag is going to be a huge hit this fall (it's on preorder right now). The bag also comes in black, but for some reason I favor the brown. Let me know if you disagree!

Hope you guys like the new RemChic Recommends. Let me know if you have any products you'd like to share! Also, feedback is welcome in regards to the new format! Leave a comment, and it'll make my day =)

RemChic Recommends: Must-Have Products June 2010

I cannot believe a whole month has passed since my last RemChic Recommends post. Crazy stuff. Anyways, here are my favorite items for this month! Enjoy! And as always, if you have a stellar product you'd like to share with other RemChic viewers, e-mail me at info at remchic dot com!

Item 1: Centered Pullover in Chocolate Mousse by Free People

I've had my eye on this sweater for a while, and although its summer, I think this would be a great piece to invest in for the fall. It's a classic enough cut that it won't go out of style, and of all the colors (cream, coral, or brown) I really think the brown is by far the best. It's so effortlessly cute it kills me!

Item 2: RAE Back Zip V-Throat Sandals in Light Lilac at Topshop

Reasons why I love these shoes: 1. Everyone knows I'm a sucker for fine details and that zipper in the back is fabulous! 2. The overall style of the shoe can go with skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, etc. 3. It's a 4.5 inch heel, yet the strapping and fit are sure to make the shoe stable for strutting around. 4. It's made with leather meaning very high quality. I do wish, however, that the heel was the same lilac tone as the rest of the heel, but the cork/wood look is growing on me.

Item 3:  Cooperative Linen Sundress at Urban Outfitters

This dress is so adorable! I always love pseudoclassic pieces, meaning items that appear to be classic, but have some sort of detailing or twist. The back of this dress is amazing! How could anyone pass this up?! I didn't include a specific color in the item title because all of the colors are pretty great in my opinion. I featured the red one because it has the most eye catching picture. Anyways, my best friend is blonde and she has the yellow one, while I'm a brunette and I ordered the black. However, in all honesty I'm sure we could swap and either color would look great!

Item 4: Have a Nice Day Moisturizer by Origins

I'm in Sedona, Arizona for the summer and with an elevation of 4,000+ feet above sea level, the sun's rays are strong! Additionally, the dry air is really killing my sensitive skin. I've invested in this moisturizer, and it's a lifesaver! It's all natural, has SPF 15, and has other special nutrients that detract the sun's rays. It's really the total package!

Item 5: Grand Canyon Sunset Nail Polish by OPI

I was trying to pick out a color for my nails the other day, and since I'm spending time in Northern Arizona, I decided to go with this color pretty much based on its name. However, it's actually a really nice, classic, creamy color that I think would go with a lot of skin tones.
