Erin Fetherston Designs for Juicy Couture

Back in November, Elle magazine reported that 29 year-old designer Erin Fetherston was going to be collaborating with the velour goddesses at Juicy Couture for a line called "Juicy Loves Glamour Girls by Erin Fetherston." Well, being a huge Erin Fetherston fan and a sort of anti-fan of Juicy Couture, I was curious to see if the floral-chiffon mind of Fetherston would work well with the L.A. rhinestone sweats of Juicy. Although it's not my favorite line on the planet, I think the collection is executed in a way that showcases both powerhouse's strengths and signature styles. Juicy said they brought Fetherston from New York to give the company a little extra punch and even gave her the title of "Creative Consultant." I think that Fetherston has added a little something extra to Juicy; however, I don't feel like the full capacity of this pairing has been reached. Perhaps they are intentionally playing it safe for skeptics like myself, or maybe they are even being reserved on purpose hoping consumers will want more. Below are a few of the better pieces in the collection. What do you think? Would you buy anything from this line?

Tim Gunn Awkwardly Poses for Capitol File

Fashion guru Tim Gunn posted this picture on his Facebook about a week ago and as much as I love him I feel like his stance/lean/whatever on that stool is a bit awkward. Anyone agree?

Georgia May Jagger: The New Face of Fashion at 18

She's been compared to Brigitte Bardot and has been known as her father's daughter...until now. Jagger is storming out of her father's shadow as the face of several fall 2010 ad campaigns including Hudson jeans and Chanel . Her gap-toothed haughty look says "I'm dangerous, but how can I be? I'm in [fill in designer label name here]!"  And Christmas is apparently coming early for Jagger. In addition to her gigs with some of the highest fashion houses in the biz, she is also the cover girl for Harper's Bazaar's November issue and Vogue Australia's December issue (see pics below). Move over Kate Moss! There's a new girl in town.

Lanvin for H&M Video Released

While getting my daily fix of Harper's Bazaar, I came across the Lanvin for H&M promo video and found myself gobbling up oodles of slippery dresses and coats that remind me of garments Cruella de Vil would wear (in a good, faux animal print kind of way). The noir-meets-Marvel-meets-Gaga video was released in order to showcase the 44 piece collection, scheduled to hit stores November 23. The pieces are shiny, romantic, and a-symmetrical. The video depicts these exact themes. Fierce, confident females march around the hotel halls while Lanvin scribbles hearts and handsome men tries to woo hot mess blondes. The filming techniques and weird music give the short film an odd erotic twist. It sort of makes you feel uncomfortable in a Beckett-esque way...kinda vain, kinda runway-ish, but still kinda love it. As for the collection I love color choices (red, mustard, turquoise), exaggerated poof sleeves, and the robe-like trench coats. Below are my favorite looks and if you crave more, check out the video and the full lookbook!

Fashion News: Michael Kors receives Lifetime Achievement Award

American designer Michael Kors has won the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the CFDA this summer. After over 30 years in the design industry, Kors has been a pioneer in defining all-American fashion. Kors certainly deserves the recognition, but it is somewhat unexpected as fashion critics have undoubtedly referred to Kors as an amateur designer for the past 15+ years. The pleasant surprise is well deserved in my opinion, and as a tribute to Kors I've put together a photo collection of his designs from fall 2010, as well as some of my favorite Michael Kors and MICHAEL by Michael Kors products. Enjoy!

Fashion News: Urban Outfitters launches beauty department!

After a long day nothing gets me in a good mood like a quick peruse around Urban Outfitter's website. I often wind down with a cup of tea and wishful thinking as I view the hundreds of adorable items they feature. Today, however, I was taken aback by a dark blue announcement on the website. What did the announcement say? Urban Outfitters now has their very own beauty department. Gasp!

I instantly fell in love with this department. Of course, U.O. has selected only the most amazing products, all of which have super chic packaging. The online organizational system is great (I will talk more about this in a bit) and right now Urban Outfitters is offering free shipping on any order that contains a regularly priced beauty product! Here are the beauty brands featured on U.O.'s website:

Anna Sui
Blow
CoSTUME NATIONAL
Cutler
Demeter
DuWop
Girlactik
Japonesque
Lipstick Queen
MALIN + GOETZ
Manic Panic
Medusa
NYX
PAUL & JOE
Pop
Revolution in Cut
Stila
Too Faced

I've had experience with Too Faced, DuWop, Stila, and Demeter, and they are all great companies! I have Too Faced eye shadow, DuWop lip gloss (I steer clear from their infamous lip plumper because it makes me look like I've had a bad lip job), Stila concealer, and have dabbled with Demeter fragrance.

I was looking through the different brands featured on U.O. when I noticed each brand has its own heading, featuring the brand's logo and a bit about the company. Having this little blurb is great! It gives you just the right amount of info to capture your attention! Here's an example:

Another feature I like is the "Trends" drop down menu, which features all of the latest and greatest beauty trends. Then, U.O. conveniently couples the trend with whatever product(s) they have that will help you achieve the featured look! Here's one example on the trend "Bold Lipstick:"

Anyways, here are my must-have and/or must-try items from Urban Outfitters' new beauty department:

Product Information (clockwise from upper left):
NYX Lip Palette in Pinky Promise
Too Faced Smokey Eye Palette

Well, what do you think? Are you going to shop at U.O. for any/all of your beauty needs? Why/why not? Let me know!
