Natascha McElhone: Proof that Beauty Exists Beyond 40

I started watching Californication yesterday per my Showtime addiction and lack of Dexter episodes to stream, and I can't help but highlight how beautiful Natascha McElhone is. At 42 years old, she is the epitome of flawless beauty. The London-born actress is gorgeous because of her natural appeal--move over over-tanned, over-bleached M.I.L.F.s, cause this type of look can't be mimicked no matter how much surgery you get. Here are some of my favorite pictures of her from photoshoots ranging from 1998 to 2007:

Kingston Rossdale: The most fashionable child....ever

If you told me five years ago that I'd someday be envious of a 4 year-old's wardrobe I probably would have asked you how much you had to drink that day. However, today I find myself admiring Kingston Rossdale's prekindergarten leather jackets and super cool unlaced boots. Although I feel a little guilty finding fashion inspiration through a child whose privacy has undoubtedly been exploited, Rossdale's fierce style is so wrong, yet so right. I mean, I guess it was inevitable seeing as his parents are the epitome of rocker chic. Anyways, wow this kid is super stylin' and now I've exposed the fact that I've Google stalked a kid who probably reads Dr. Seuss and goes to bed before 8:00 p.m... I'm a creep.

Celebrity Style File: Sienna Miller

New York born, London raised Sienna Miller is the poster child for London-meets-NYC streetwear. Although Miller is known for being on the big screen, she first got her foot in the door by strutting down the catwalk. Then, the jack-of-all-trades star merged the two and simultaneously took her acting and fashion pursuits to new heights throughout the 2000's. Most notably, Miller has been practically singled out and credited with the fashion phenomenon known as "boho chic." Not only is Miller a fashion icon, she has also taken her savvy style and colaborated with sister, Savannah, to design their own fashion label, Twenty8Twelve. Fashion has undoubtedly become a major component in Miller's fast-paced life and due to her early exposure and experience in the industry she has had a lot of time to solidify her fashion philosophy. In fact, she once said: "Style is definitely a combination of place, occasion, surroundings, body and mood...style doesn't mean you have to stick to all-brands-looks. The thing is, you can't buy style and you can only slowly learn it." Ah, words to live, learn, and shop by!

Here are a few things you might want to know if you are considering translating elements of Sienna's style into your own wardrobe:

-Sienna is the perfect example of effortless chic. All of her outfits look as if they were thrown together without rhyme or reason and come out flawlessly. Try pairing things together that you wouldn't normally; you may be surprised with your creation!

-Sienna's favorite designers are Missoni, Marchesa, Matthew Williamson, and Chloé. Go to style.com and visit each designer's archive for some inspiration!

-Look up advice straight from Sienna! She has been asked about her style countless times and her words of wisdom are documented all over the web. Here's one I really like: "Never try too hard. Start with a sun dress, add jeans or tights underneath, and toss a skinny jacket over. To pull the outfit together, a strand of bold beads, a wide rustic belt, and perfectly worn-in boots complete it just so."

Exhibit A: Daytime Attire

Sienna is always well-dressed in an aberrant manner, meaning her ensembles are always eclectic, as well as inspiring. Her taste is very particular, in a way that will make you tilt your head a little bit as she struts down the sidewalk. Her looks are complete from head-to-toe and whether she is wearing a menswear button up with tattered denim shorts or a prairie sundress and cognac colored boots, Miller's free spirit always shines through her ensembles. Afterall, you are what you wear.

If you like Sienna's daytime style, here is an array of items I could definitely see her wearing:

Exhibit B: Evening Attire

Sienna's red carpet looks are about bold prints, interesting shapes, and dramatic details, such as an embellished built-in collar or huge embedded studs on an otherwise simple dress. Miller has done everything from Grecian chiffon to ombré dyed to a train of fiery red feathers. You really don't know what to expect, and I think that's part of Miller's style...delivering the unexpected.

Here are some more inspired-by items that will get your creative juices flowing when trying to incorporate Sienna's style into your evening outfit:

Celebrity Style File: Rachel Bilson

T
his time on Celebrity Style file we are reviewing one of my favorite celebs, Rachel Bilson. I love her because she is about my same size/body type (she's about 5'3" and 105 pounds) so it makes it easy for me to find inspiration within her looks. Don't get me wrong, sometimes Beyonce's glam looks blow me away, but I am nowhere near her body type. Maybe after a few more months of practicing the "Single Ladies" dance I'll be able to pull off some of her outfits! Anyways, Rachel Bilson is a more realistic pick for me as far as outward appearance goes. Additionally, Rachel Bilson is such a style chameleon its hard not to find inspiration!

Here are a few things you might want to know if you are considering translating elements of Rachel's style into your own wardrobe:

-Rachel adores muted/geometric prints, charcoal tones, and seems to always have a "pop" factor within her mostly classic outfit.

-Rachel wears above-the-knee or at-the-knee dresses and skirts, which compliment her smaller frame. If you prefer shorter dresses, Rachel has worn some really cute ones over the years that I'm sure you'd love!

-Her style is always very dynamic and multifaceted. On and off the red carpet, Rachel's looks are always complete with lots of complementary accessories. She also frequently layers and wears separates.

Exhibit A: Daytime Attire

Rachel's daytime looks are so amazing it's really hard to pick only a few to showcase. I actually find her casual style more inspiring than her evening looks. My favorite is the one on the far left below. It really exemplifies how Rachel can take a very classic look and add a twist. I'm definitely moving my own style in a more refined, classic direction, but I still want to incorporate fun details.

If you like Rachel's daytime style, here are some wallet-friendly items I could definitely see her wearing:

Exhibit B: Evening Attire

Rachel's red carpet looks tend to incorporate water tones. As I mentioned before, she almost always wears above-the-knee or at-the-knee dresses (I've seen pictures of her in a floor-length gown only once). She also goes for dresses which seem classic or simple, but actually have an interesting element, such as studs or an exposed zipper. This same fashion philosophy is eminent within her daytime looks, too! And don't forget the mega heels...afterall, Bilson is only 5'3"!

Here are some more inspired-by items that will get your creative juices flowing when trying to incorporate Rachel's style into your evening outfit:

Celebrity Style File: Ginnifer Goodwin

Although there are still a few days left to vote in the monthly poll for May, the number one request (so far) has been for posts related to celebrity fashion. Well, the other day I was viewing my FAVORITE fashion blog, Who What Wear, when I came across a picture of Ginnifer Goodwin. What caught my eye was the simplicity of her outfit- sunglasses, a cute cream sweater, skinny jeans, and flats. I started Googling her, and her style is actually quite cute, and seeing as I haven't really seen her style showcased on a lot of other blogs, I thought I'd be a little eccentric and pick her for my first celebrity style file!

Ginnifer is best known for her role as Margene Heffman on the HBO series Big Love; however, you may also recognize her for her roles on Mona Lisa Smile and Walk the Line.

Here are a few things you might want to know if you are considering translating elements of Ginnifer's style into your own wardrobe:

-She stands at 5'6", so take that into consideration when analyzing the proportions of her outfits!

-A lot of her outfits very classic with a youthful touch. Although she is 32 years-old, her style can work for 20-somethings, 40-somethings, and every age in between!

-After looking at more recent pictures of her, I feel like Ginnifer's style is moving into an androgynous-meets-noir phase. If you are into lots of black and complimentary pixie cuts, stay tuned!

Exhibit A: Daytime Attire

It was like pulling teeth trying to find daytime/casual pictures of Ginnifer, which I love and hate: love because it shows she tries to stay away from the limelight unless it's in a professional setting (i.e. an award show) and hate because it makes my job (writing this post) super difficult. Ugh! Anyways, here are a few pictures of Ginnifer's casual style, which is composed usually of skinny jeans, a charcoal color pallet, and flats.

If you like Ginnifer's daytime style, here are some wallet-friendly items I could definitely see her wearing:

Exhibit B: Evening Attire

There are two eminent motifs when it comes to Ginnifer's eveningwear: purple and ivory. She also tends to incorporate a lot of draping and floral elements into her nighttime frocks. Furthermore, Ginnifer pretty much always sticks with above-the-knee cuts, which I think compliments her style and body shape really well! Here are some pictures to demonstrate what I mean:

Cobalt draped dress at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards
Purple frock dress at an Oscar after-party in 2009
Dior dress at a Vanity Fair and Christian Dior-hosted exhibition in LA

Ivory tiered dress with black ribbon at EMA Awards in Los Angeles
Metallic dress at the Genesis Awards
