Designer Profile: Betsey Johnson


Betsey Johnson's style has been known as whimsical and hippie-inspired. She makes youthful entities such as bows and ruffles, timeless. Betsey Johnson's line includes everything from watches to handbags to lace vests. Since the 1960's she has remained true to her one-of-a-kind look and has won numerous fashion awards/honors such as being introduced to the Fashion Walk of Fame.

Born: Weathersfield, Connecticut, 10 August 1942.
Education: Studied at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York and Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York

"Claim to Fame": Betsey won the Mademoiselle Guest Editor Contest in 1964. That same year she was made the in-house designer for the Manhattan boutique, Paraphernalia. From then on, Betsey's career sky rocketed!
